I have eaten at the Barge restaurant twice , sampling the lunchtime tapas menu which was presented beautifully and tasted wonderful including food I have never sampled before. I have also dined from the a'la carte menu, the whole menu was imaginative and it was hard to choose what to have. I opted for the pigeon for starter which was cooked perfectly with seabream and crab rissoto for main, I was not disappointed it was outstanding. I have recommended The Barge to family and friends; it is the best restaurant in Maidstone by miles.

I went for a meal on Saturday night with my five friends for a birthday and was satisfied from the moment we sat down. The menu was interesting and very reasonable. We ordered different things so we could sample, the waiting staff were engaging and knew about the food. The atmosphere was really pleasant and the food was absolutely delicious. Without a shadow of a doubt the best meal you will have in Maidstone by far. It was on par with some great restaurants in London.

We went to the Barge on Saturday, and as always, the food, service and atmosphere were fantastic. By far my favourite restaurant in Maidstone! We can't wait to go back again.

We visited for lunch and dinner and on both occasion’s food and service were excellent. The Barge has a wonderful ambience and is truly an enjoyable experience in fine dining. I am booking for dinner this week as well! It is definitely the best restaurant in the County Town.

I took my daughter to the Barge on Saturday for a celebration meal and we were absolutely delighted! The service was superb and the food was gorgeous. I rarely have all three courses but the salmon and crab lasagna as a starter was far too good to miss out on! The main course portions were just right leaving enough room for a delightful desert, we would definitely recommend this venue to anyone and are looking forward to our next visit!

We had a really good time and we couldn't believe how amazing it looked as we approached the restaurant. We both live in Maidstone and never knew it was there. It is absolutely amazing from the atmosphere, to the service and the food. Everything was spot on. Not bad for money either, we wished we stayed for dessert, but was to full to eat anything else.

We had a very enjoyable evening on this Saturday of April 2010. The food and service were both excellent - Keep it up!

The food, service, location and value are all first class. This is the only place in central Maidstone worth eating if you want quality, freshly prepared real food rather than the usual franchise rubbish that unfortunately abounds in the town. Highly recommended!Review by Graham (4 April 2010)

Excellent! The service was great, the food was excellent, very reasonably priced, attentive service, clean, great location and great atmosphere. It's about time Maidstone had a decent restaurant, in fact we are eating here again on Saturday. All the best to the owners - who had the guts to do something different.

My boyfriend and I went to The Barge Riverside Restaurant for their Valentine's dinner and it really exceeded our expectations. At first, we'd thought thirty three pounds a head to be rather expensive, but we received a welcome drink, two lots of canapes, two starters each, a fish course, a main course, a selection of amazing puddings to share and we didn't even make it to the cheese course as we were so stuffed. Each course was beautifully and imaginatively prepared - not only delicious and interesting to the taste buds but a little work of art in its own right. The chef here really must be something special. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive, and found us a wonderful table overlooking the river at night with the colourful lights over the Ragstone bridge. The evening was thoroughly special and I definitely want to go back another night and sample their regular menu if the Valentine's night was anything to go by. Cannot recommend this place highly enough!

We had dinner at the Barge last night - it was very good. It is such a nice change from all the other restaurants in town. The pork belly was outstanding and the people very friendly. I do recommend trying this restaurant. I will certainly go back.

With Maidstone town centre being overrun with chain restaurants, it is great to see a locally owned restaurant, serving good quality food. My partner and I had a very enjoyable meal here, with the food providing good flavours and reasonable value for money. The Barge Restaurant provides a nice different environment to have a meal with the big bay windows providing a lovely view of the river. I will be recommending and be returning again.

Three of my family and I had an evening meal on Saturday aboard the newly opened, The Barge Riverside Restaurant. The service was very good and attentive, the meal was excellent and not over priced and the view outstanding. The restaurant is run by a local couple who wished to help promote the stunning river area surrounding the Bishops Palace and Millennium Bridge. It really made a change looking at the stunning countryside whilst eating rather than looking at the more customary boring four walls, we will be visiting again very soon.
